Mo Shopping notches hard fought victory in Light Hearted Stakes

Repole Stable’s Mo Shopping notched a hard fought victory in the $50,000 Light Hearted Stakes at Delaware Park today. The Light Hearted is the local prep for the $300,000 Grade II Delaware Oaks to be run on July 7th.
With Mario Pino aboard, the 3-year-old daughter of Uncle Mo won by a half-length and returned $5.40 as the second choice in the field of six. The 3-to-2 favorite, Blue Strike, with Feargal Lynch, finished second. Prospective Lady, with Daniel Centeno, cut early fractions of :47.45 for a half mile and 1:12.66 for the three-quarters mile before finishing third. Mo Shopping completed the mile and seventy yards over a fast main track in 1:42.77.
The Kentucky-bred conditioned by Todd Pletcher raised her career record to three wins from six starts with earnings of $97,250.
“She looked real good and she warmed up real good as well,” said winning rider Mario Pino. “She broke good and I thought I would be laying second and I was. Every time I asked her, she always gave me a little extra. They were kind of coming from both sides at her in the stretch and she fought them off gamely. She kept grinding away and she got the job done.”
