What is a Delaware Certified Thoroughbred? |

A |
A thoroughbred horse that spends a minimum of 90 consecutive days, subject to verification, on a Delaware farm or training facility prior to March 31 of its two-year-old year and races at Delaware Park. |

How is a thoroughbred certified for the DCTP? |

The certifier must complete and submit a Delaware Certified Thoroughbred application form within 10 days of the thoroughbred’s arrival at an approved DCTP farm or training facility. Days will not count until all paperwork has been received by DCTP. Registration fees are $50 for weanlings and $100 for yearlings. A representative of the DCTP will visit the Delaware farm or training facility to validate the residency requirement. Upon validation, the horse will be issued a Delaware Certified Thoroughbred Certificate and be eligible for purse enhancements at Delaware Park. |

Is the Delaware thoroughbred certified for life, or must the process be repeated annually? |

The Delaware thoroughbred is certified for life and the certification stays with the thoroughbred if ownership changes. |

What is the purse enhancement under the Delaware Certified Thoroughbred Program for racing at Delaware Park? |

The certifier of the thoroughbred will receive an additional 20% of the purse share if the Delaware Certified Thoroughbred finishes first, second or third in any race, including stake races at Delaware Park. The owner of a Delaware Certified Thoroughbred will receive 20% of the purse share if the Delaware Certified Thoroughbred finishes first, second, or third in any race, including stakes races at Delaware Park. (Awards in stake races not to exceed $10,000 for owner bonus and $10,000 for certifier bonus per horse per race). Delaware Certified Thoroughbred horses will be identified in Delaware Park’s racing programs with so that owners and trainers will be aware of the enhanced potential earnings of the Delaware Certified Thoroughbred Program. Delaware Certified Thoroughbred horses will receive preference when entering races at Delaware Park. |

How and when are DCTP bonuses paid? |

Owner bonuses will be included in purse distributions. DCTP bonuses for certifiers will be paid at the end of each month. |

How is the DCTP funded and administered? |

The Delaware Certified Thoroughbred Program is a program proudly sponsored by Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (DTHA). The DCTP is evaluated annually and may be modified as conditions warrant. |
