| Day Care Assistance Program (DAP) Sponsored by: Delaware Horsemen's Assistance Fund (DHAF) What Is “DAP”? It is a financial assistance program, funded by the Delaware Horsemen’s Assistance Fund, to assist with day care expenses of eligible parents working at Delaware Park. Partial reimbursement of day care expenses at licensed day care facilities chosen by the parents will be provided. Who Is Eligible For DAP? Any parent who is a licensed Delaware Park Hot Walker, Groom, Exercise Rider, Trainer, or Assistant Trainer stabled at Delaware Park is eligible, if he or she provides proof of one month, full-time current employment. Previous participants must reapply every year. How Much Day Care Expense Can Be Covered? DHAF will reimburse a maximum of $50 per week of ELIGIBLE day care costs. Are All Of My Children’s Expenses Covered By DAP? No. DAP will reimburse a portion of the day care expenses for two children per family. The children must be 10 years of age or under at the time of reimbursement. The children must be living with the parent working at Delaware Park. Reimbursement applies to expenses beginning after eligibility requirement is met and ending when the employee leaves Delaware Park. How Is A Child Enrolled? Bring the following to the Horsemen’s Office two weeks prior to submitting a request for reimbursement:
A DAP voucher signed by the day care center verifying the two week period is the basis for the reimbursement. The DAP voucher must be submitted within 30 days of the day care service. What Type Of Day Care Facilities Qualify? Your child’s day care center must be licensed by the States of Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Maryland. Is There A Limit To The Number Of Children Who Can Participate? Yes. The program is currently limited to 20 children. If the number of eligible applicants exceeds 20, participation guidelines and funding levels will be subject to Day Care committee review and approval. Is This A Year-Round Program? DAP is an on-going program during the live meet for parents who are licensed Delaware Park employees working and stabled on the backside. It will be reviewed and updated periodically by DHAF to meet the needs of their membership. |
